The End of Probation: Fail or Success?

10/03/2024

Just a few days ago, I caught a glimpse of my calendar and saw it—the meeting titled "The End of Probation" with Anne. My heart skipped a beat. I tried to make a cup of tea to calm my nerves, but I forgot what I was doing mid-way and returned to my desk, restless.

I mustered the courage to ask Anne for a heads-up. Her response? A cryptic "You'll find out soon enough." Not exactly the reassurance I needed.

Later that day, Beniamin, my beacon in the IT realm, casually mentioned, "You know, if Anne was going to let you go, she would've told you by now." But his words were cold comfort to my anxious mind.

The day of reckoning arrived. Anne stood up, beckoning Beniamin and me into the meeting room. "Take a seat," she said, her voice serious. She began, "Unfortunately…" My heart sank. "…you need to stick with us longer." Confusion washed over me, followed by a wave of relief as Beniamin chimed in with a hearty "Welcome to the team!"

They laid it all out—my progress, their expectations, and the future. I was now a full-fledged Level 2 Admin IT Technician. The message was clear: keep up the good work.

So here I am, at the end of my probation, not with a tale of failure, but one of success. And now, as a bona fide member of the team, I'm ready to dive into the world of Cybersecurity and share my journey with you.

Stay tuned for the adventures that lie ahead!
